About This Site

This page is used to communicate both planned maintenance and unplanned outages affecting EMU I.T. computing systems.

All planned maintenance for major EMU systems is scheduled in conjunction with the ERP-Business Operations Committee (BOC). The BOC includes representation from various campus units and Faculty Senate. Maintenance dates can be found on the Maintenance Calendar which is published annually in December for the coming calendar year.

Identified - An incident has occurred along the fiber pathway leading to this facility, resulting in a fiber break. The Internet Service Provider has been notified and has contracted a service team for repairs. The break's location has been identified, and a repair crew was sent out. However, they cannot access the site at this time due to power crews working in the area. The service team will proceed with the repair once the power crews have left the site. Currently, no estimated time of repair (ETR) has been provided to the service team.

Monitoring - Plant has restored power and reported that it is now stable. Most IT systems have recovered automatically at this point. We will continue to work to restore any that did not come back online automatically. Any remaining issues can be reported by opening a ticket using https://service.emich.edu/ to report the problem. (To submit a ticket, Login, if prompted, then scroll down and click "Submit a Help Desk Ticket" in the center.)

Investigating - The EMU Data Center lost power after a power event due to the storms that passed through Ypsilanti around 6:30. Plant is working to restore and stabilize power. Once power is restored and stabilized the IT team will work to restore any services that do not automatically recover. Cloud services such as Google Workspace, Canvas and Zoom remain available.
